Artist's Comments

This is a photo i took of myself. I then had it printed on canvas paper, and then went to town on it with sharpy markers.
I am still working on a whole series of theses.

I worked in a art gallery for a while and was lucky to get this published for a literary magazine.
I just had fun, drawing the lines.

Critiques

:iconlittle-vampire:
This is seriously a technique I haven't seen yet, hence I find this work really original and I have to say it's also intriguing for the eyes, as the eyes can't really get bored with all those lines, you can actually get lost by following them! The brown tones you picked for the background are wonderfully chosen as they don't distract the eye, all the attention goes to the black lines and all their knot they creates. The pose is unusual and and I really find interesting the amount of lines you decided to use for creating the nose. Usually people tend to spend more time to create the eyes while in here it almost seems you wanted to give more attention to the nose and lips. The hair is well made too, it's almost as if you draw each hair one by one! I'm sure the process to create this work took quite a lot of time, but I think it was time well spent.

Beautiful line work.

The lines make the picture very interesting. It's as if out of something unorganized and very simple, something organized and very cleary recognizable is created, but you have to see the whole picture. I like it a lot. Realls hope you do more and show them on DA.

I love this style you've created for this series. Very cool and interesting. The photo is taken from a nice upward angle, which really adds to the overall look of the piece. Me likey!

very cool-looking technique! looks almost like one of them paint-by-numbers sheets, but without the numbers.

for something more...

Thank you . i use lines to create a contour and depth of the image, kinda of like a topographical map. I just see different pattern and colors, and randomly draw on them, it is a very random process. thank you for you feed back....!(=
